Fire Safety Tips for a Cozy and Safe Blazin’ Joe Experience!

Hey there Blazin’ Joe fam! Maddie and Maya here to share some fire safety tips to keep your Blazin’ Joe fires cozy, fun, and most importantly, safe. While we love bringing the heat, we know fire safety is no joke. Whether you're using our logs at home or in the great outdoors, follow these tips to ensure a safe and enjoyable fire experience.

Using Blazin’ Joe Firelogs

Poke and Prod with Caution: Disturbing a burning firelog may cause it to break apart, resulting in a sudden flare-up. While our logs are safe, exercise caution to avoid surprises!

Avoid Overloading: Our firelogs burn hotter and longer than traditional wood. Add additional material with caution as it can increase heat and smoke beyond what your fireplace or fire pit is designed to handle.

Campfire and Firepit Safety

Location, Location, Location:

  • Always build campfires at least 25 feet away from tents, shrubs, and anything flammable.

  • If you're using a fire pit provided by a campground, great! If not, dig your own. Make sure it’s away from overhanging branches and power lines.

Follow Local Regulations:

  • Always check campground fire regulations. Temporary fire bans may be in place due to high wildfire risks.

  • If you're using our fire starters or logs as a fire enhancer, avoid transporting traditional firewood across county lines, as it can carry invasive pests and diseases that harm the local ecosystem. However, if you're solely using Blazin' Joe fire products, there's no need to worry—they can safely cross county lines!

Wind Awareness:

  • Keep flammable items, including unused firewood and gear, at least 15 feet upwind of your fire to prevent wind-blown sparks.

Stay Vigilant:

  • Never leave a fire unattended. Always keep water handy to extinguish flames if needed.

  • Fully extinguish your fire before leaving by dousing it with water and ensuring all embers are out.

Fireplace Safety

Make Sure Your Flue Is Open!

Keep Your Space Clear:

  • Maintain a 3-foot clearance around your fireplace.

  • Use a metal or glass screen to prevent embers from escaping.

Regular Maintenance:

  • Have your chimney inspected and cleaned annually by a professional.

  • Dispose of ashes in a metal container with a lid, placed at least 10 feet from your home.

Keep Your Fires Non-Toxic!

Say No to Paraffin Wax: Many conventional firelogs contain harmful paraffin wax. Our Blazin’ Joe firelogs and starters are non-toxic, made from coffee chaff and soy wax– safe for you and the planet!

Avoid Burning Harmful Materials: Never burn treated wood, plastics, chemicals, or trash.

Stay safe and fired up!
