At Blazin’ Joe, we’re more than just a firelog company—we’re two adventurous, sustainability-driven entrepreneurs on a mission to transform waste into warmth.

We’re Maddie Cataldo and Maya Nefs—two friends who met playing hockey at CU Boulder and bonded over a shared love of adventure, sustainability, and the outdoors. We both studied Entrepreneurship and Corporate Social Responsibility and teamed up to build something that sparks real impact.

Maddie started Blazin’ Joe in college, shaped by experiences like CU's Female Founder Challenge and a social impact accelerator in South Africa. Maya joined in 2024, bringing deep experience in clean water innovation, sustainability consulting, and operational strategy.

Together, we saw the untapped potential of coffee chaff—a material usually thrown away—and transformed it into eco-friendly fire products that bring people together and protect the planet.
